Fenelon Falls Canadian pride is showing in town. As part of our sesquicentennial activities, the windows in town are all red and white with excitement. Watch for banners, bunting, flags and all types of images and graphics. Many stores and service companies will take part in this competition to show how proud we are to be Canadians.

Winners will be announced at the festivities on July 1st at Garnet Graham Park in the afternoon. First prize of $300 will go to the selected store window participant. Second and Third prizes will also be presented and an additional special First Place prize being offered to the best “on property” display. Custom designed and hand-made “ribbons” crafted by Ann Kumala at Curious? will be proudly displayed around town.

Join us July 1st and take a moment to congratulate the winners of this commemorative competition.

Happy Canada Day!

This July 1st the Canada Day Celebrations will be double in size and be at two locations in the Village of Fenelon Falls – Chair Doug Elmslie said “We wanted to make the Celebration of this special Canada Day an event to be enjoyed by as many residents and tourists as possible thus deciding to bring a special musical afternoon to the centre of the Village.” The Official opening and cake cutting will still take place at Garnet Graham Park starting at noon. There will as well be a bouncy castle, water fun and a new activity – cupcake decorating – starting at noon until 3:00 p.m.

The new activity centre will be on Water Street which will be a pedestrian only mall from noon til 5:00 p.m. The main attraction will be a music fest featuring three musical organizations starting with the 15 piece Northern Spirit band at 1:00 p.m., the 50 voice ReUnion Choir at 2:30 p.m. and concluding at 4:00 p.m. with a marching and concert demonstration by the ever favourite Pipes and Drums of Lindsay.

Councillor Elmslie said “What better way to spend an afternoon by the locks than listening to great music while enjoying a FREE ICE CREAM CONE which will be available at Slices and Scoops from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Come and enjoy music, free ice cream and meet Father Fenelon and Canada’s Beaver and Moose which will be there to interact with children and adults alike.
